About
THIS CLASS IS OPEN TO STUDENTS WITH AT LEAST 1 YEAR OF IMPROV TRAINING. The Harold is the signature long form of Chicago's venerable iO (formerly Improv Olympic) theater. Group work is at the heart of all great entertainment today and The Harold is a structure that makes improvised art that much more accessible.
Designed for improvisers who are newer to longform, this intensive will introduce the key elements of the Harold: openings (discovering ideas and themes), group games (expanding and exploring those ideas), and scenework (grounded, connected moments that bring it all together).
Led by an instructor trained by the creators of the form, this class offers a supportive space to experiment, learn, and see what longform is all about.
This is not a comedy class. It's a class on how to create an improvised piece of theatre right here, right now.
