Sketch Comedy 201: Show Creation

Building on the fundamentals from Sketch Comedy 101, this course dives deeper into developing a full sketch comedy show from the ground up. Under the guidance of GCI artistic director Kevin Matviw—actor/writer for The Second City in Toronto and member of the Canadian Comedy Award–winning troupe The Sketchersons—you’ll learn how to pitch ideas with clarity and confidence, write lyrics for comedic songs, create interactive audience pieces and explore sketch structures that break the rules. 

Over four weeks, you’ll write and refine sketches, shape a running order, collaborate as an ensemble, and assemble a complete show blueprint. By the end, you’ll have a working knowledge of how professional sketch revues are built—from first brainstorm to final performance.

This four-week class runs Saturday afternoons from January 10th to January 31st from 1-4pm.
